The requirements of this section <br /> apply to all building construction projects in which build- <br /> 2 ings are located or are to be located such that any portion <br /> 3 is more than 200 feet in vehicular travel from the street <br /> property line except the tax single family dwellings. <br /> 4 <br /> 1. Buildings having required fire flows of less than <br /> 5 2,500 gallons per minute are required to have fire <br /> hydrants on only one side of the building. <br /> 6 <br /> 2. When the required fire flow is over 2,500 gallons per <br /> 7 minute the fire hydrant shall be served by a main <br /> 8 which loops around the building or complex of build- <br /> ings and reconnects back into a distribution supply <br /> 9 main. The number of fire hydrants shall be deter- <br /> mined on an average basing of 300 feet computed on <br /> 10 imaginary parallel line to and not less than 50 feet <br /> from the structure. All hydrants are to be accessible <br /> 11 by two fire department pumper trucks over roads <br /> capable of supporting such fire apparatus . The Fire <br /> 12 Marshal shall determine the location of the hydrants <br /> 13 based upon a determination of utility topography and <br /> building location. Hydrants shall be a minimum of 50 <br /> 14 feet away from the building or structure; minor devia- <br /> tions may be granted by fire department approval of <br /> 15 written requests. <br /> 16 Section 7: That there is hereby added to EMC 14.16.600 paragraph (P) <br /> 17 which shall read as follows: <br /> 18 <br /> P. Maximum Distance for Single Family Dwellings. The maximum <br /> 19 distance from hydrants to any new construction which is <br /> residential and single family and in the single family use dis- <br /> 20 trict shall be 350 feet. <br /> 21 Section 8: That there is hereby added to EMC 14.16.600 paragraph (Q) <br /> 22 which shall read as follows: <br /> 23 <br /> Q. Fire Flow Requirements . The fire flow requirements applied <br /> 24 by the Fire Marshal under the provisions of this chapter <br /> shall be based upon criteria established in the "Guide for <br /> 25 Determination of Required Fire Flow" as published by the <br /> Insurance Service Office of the Municipal Survey Service, <br /> 26 160 Water Street, New York, New York, 10038. The "Guide <br /> for Determination of Required Fire Flow," and the standards <br /> 27 of the American Water Works Association, all as amended, <br /> 28 added to, or excepted herein are adopted by the City. A <br /> copy of each such adopted collection of standards , rules , <br /> 29 criteria, in the form in which it was adopted and suitably <br /> marked to indicate amendments , additions, deletions, and <br /> 30 exceptions as provided herein, shall be authenticated and <br /> filed by the clerk in the records of his office, suitably re- <br /> 31 ferenced and indexed to the ordinance codified herein.
