PL/BL/C N VIL4CF
December 15, 1995
Mr. David Thiele
Ness Construction
PO Box 117
Kirkland, WA 98028
RE: Cocoon House - DCDA Location
392t Pine Street
ZZrZq
Dear Mr. Thiele,
The city has learned that the Fire Service DCDA for this structure has been installed in a
closet (which has an outside wall) inside the building. This is in conflict to city staff's
verbal instructions to the developer to install the DCDA in a vault in the city right-of-way.
The city will not require the DCDA to be relocated outside the building - provided that the
following conditions are met:
1. A Hold Harmless Agreement (supplied by the city) for the installation of the
DCDA inside the building must be executed and recorded against the property.
2. A set of steel, exterior double doors must be installed at the location of the
DCDA to provide the city access to the device from the outside. The city
must approve the lockset installea on the doors and be provided with a key.
This work must meet the UBC and be approved by the city Building Official.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. If you have any questions regarding this issue
please call Paul McKee at 259-8810.
Sincerely,
ord
' Services/En ineerin
Dtrect r of Public
g g
cc: Grinnell Fire Protection Systems Company
Dan Lowell
Gerry Crumm
Tim Tyler
PM
CITY OF EVERETT• 3200 Cedar Street • Everett, WA 98201 • (206) 259-8800 • Fax (206) 259-8856
