DEFINITIONS AND STANDARDS
010900 - 1
SECTION 010900-DEFINITIONS AND STANDARDS
1. GENERAL
1.2. Description of Requirements
1. General: This section specifies procedural and administrative
requirements for compliance with governing regulations and codes and
standards imposed upon the Work. These requirements include the
obtaining permits, licenses, inspections, releases and similar
documentation, as well as payments, statements and similar requirements
associated with regulations, codes and standards.
1. The term, "Regulations," is defined to include laws, statutes,
ordinances and lawful orders issued by governing authorities, as
well as those rules, conventions and agreements within the
construction industry which effectively control the performance of
the work regardless of whether they are lawfully imposed by
governing authority or not.
2. Governing Regulations: Refer to General Conditions for requirements
related to compliance with governing regulations.
2. DEFINITIONS
2.1. General Explanation: A substantial amount of specification language consists of
definitions of terms found in other contract documents, including drawings.
(Drawings are recognized as being diagrammatic in nature and not completely
descriptive of requirements indicated thereon). Certain terms used in contract
documents are defined in this article. Definitions and explanations contained in
this section are not necessarily either complete or exclusive, but are general for the
Work to extent that they are not stated more explicitly in another element of the
contract documents.
2.2. General Requirements: The provisions or requirements of other Division-1
sections apply to entire work of the Contract and, where so indicated,to other
elements which are included in the project.
2.3. Indicated: The term "Indicated" is a cross-reference to graphic representations,
notes or schedules on the drawings, to other paragraphs or schedules in the
specifications, and to similar means of recording requirements in contract
documents. Where terms such as "shown", "noted", "scheduled", and "specified"
are used in lieu of"indicated", it is for the purpose of helping the reader locate the
cross-reference, and no limitation of location is intended except as specifically
noted.
2.4. Directed, Requested, etc.: Where not otherwise explained, terms such as
"directed",requested", "authorized", "selected", "approved", "required",
"accepted", and "permitted" mean "directed by Architect/Engineer", "requested by
Architect/Engineer", and similar phrases. However,no such implied meaning
will be interpreted to extend the Architect's Engineer's responsibility into
Contractor's area of construction supervision.
02/19/13
