DEFINITIONS AND STANDARDS <br /> 010900 -2 <br /> 2.5. Approve: Where used in conjunction with the Architect's/Engineer's response to <br /> submittals,requests, applications, inquiries,reports and claims by the Contractor, <br /> the meaning of term "approved"will be held to limitations of the Architect's/ <br /> Engineer's responsibilities and duties as specified in General and Supplementary <br /> Conditions. In no case will the Architect/Engineer's approval be interpreted as a <br /> release of the Contractor from his responsibilities to fulfill requirements of <br /> contract documents. <br /> 2.6. Project Site: The term "project site" is defined as the space available to the <br /> Contractor for performance of the Work, either exclusively or in conjunction with <br /> others performing other work as part of the project. The extent of the project site <br /> is shown on the drawings. <br /> 2.7. Furnish: Except as otherwise defined in greater detail, the term "furnish" is used <br /> to mean supply and deliver to the project site,ready for unloading,unpacking, <br /> assembly, installation, and similar operations as applicable in each instance. <br /> 2.8. Install: Except as otherwise defined in greater detail, the term "install" is used to <br /> describe operations at project site including the actual "unloading,unpacking, <br /> assembly,erection,placing, anchoring, applying,working to dimension, finishing, <br /> curing protecting, cleaning and similar operations," as applicable in each instance. <br /> 2.9. Provide: Except as otherwise defined in greater detail,the term "provide" means <br /> "to furnish and install, complete and ready for intended use," as applicable in each <br /> instance. <br /> 2.10. Installer: The term "installer" is defined as "the entity" (person or firm) engaged <br /> by Contractor or its subcontractor or sub-subcontractor for performance of a <br /> particular unit of work at the project site, including installation, erection, <br /> application and similar required operations. It is a requirement that installers are <br /> experienced in operations they are engaged to perform. <br /> 2.11. Testing Laboratory: The term "testing laboratory" is defined as an-independent <br /> entity engaged to perform specific inspections or tests of the work, either at <br /> project site or elsewhere; and to report, and(if required) interpret results of those <br /> inspections or tests. <br /> 3. SPECIFICATION FORMAT AND CONTENT EXPLANATION <br /> 3.1. General: This article is provided to help the user of these specifications more <br /> readily understand the format, language, implied requirements and similar <br /> conventions of content. None of the following explanations shall be interpreted to <br /> modify the substance of the contract requirements. <br /> 1. Production Methods: Portions of these specifications have been produced <br /> by the Architect/Engineer's standard method of editing master <br /> specifications; they may contain minor deviations from traditional writing <br /> formats.
