The Contractor shall utilize a utility locate service and shall notify affected utility companies <br /> before starting work and comply with all their requirements. The Contractor shall conform to <br /> applicable regulatory procedures when discovering hazardous or contaminated materials. <br /> C. The locations of existing underground utilities are only approximate and have not been <br /> independently verified by the Owner or its representative. The Contractor shall determine the <br /> exact location of all existing utilities before commencing work and shall be fully responsible <br /> for any and all damages that happen due to the Contractor's failure to locate exactly and <br /> preserve all underground utilities that are designated to remain. <br /> 1.8 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br /> A. Maintain at least one copy of the WSDOT Standard Specifications for Road, Bridge and <br /> Municipal Construction, latest edition, and project plans and specifications on-site. <br /> B. Field inspection and testing will be performed under provisions of Section 01 40 00, <br /> "Inspections and Tests." <br /> C. Tests and analysis of aggregate material will be performed in accordance with ANSI/ASTM I <br /> D1557,ASTM D2922,ASTM D3017,ASTM D4318,and ASTM C136,as applicable. <br /> D. If tests indicate materials do not meet specified requirements, change material and retest or <br /> obtain written approval from the Engineer. Costs associated with the retesting of materials will <br /> be the responsibility of the Contractor. <br /> 1.9 REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS I <br /> A. Conform to all requirements of the NPDES under the Department of Ecology's General Permit <br /> for Stormwater Discharges from Construction Activities and the SWPPP. Contractor and their <br /> CESCL shall be responsible for maintaining all required records as follows: <br /> 1. Construction activities. <br /> 2. Inspections. <br /> 3. Stabilization measures. <br /> 4. Maintenance. <br /> 5. Stormwater discharges. <br /> 6. Sampling for turbidity and pH. <br /> Contractor shall bear all costs associated with maintaining the SWPPP documentation, <br /> monitoring,testing,and any penalties associated with non-compliance with the NPDES permit. <br /> B. Conform to applicable agency code for dust control and runoff control. <br /> C. Provide and maintain additional temporary erosion control measures at no additional cost as <br /> may become necessary due to weather or environmental conditions and to comply with <br /> Washington State Department of Ecology requirements. <br /> TEMPORARY EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL 01 57 13-4 <br />
