n
O
DOWNTOWN EVE R ETT
ASSOCIATION
i4-. .FiS.,
August 22, 2018
City of Everett
2930 Wetmore Avenue
Everett, WA 98201
Attention: Mayor Franklin
Re: Downtown Parking Task Force
Dear Mayor Franklin,
The Downtown Everett Association formally requests that you form a downtown parking task
force. This request comes in response to feedback our organization has received from residents
and business owners who struggle with unique yet ubiquitous parking challenges.
Everett is forecasted to attract new businesses and residents in the next 15 to 20 years and we
plan to work with new and existing downtown merchants to create world-class customer
experiences. Attracting residents is also essential, and until the day arrives with adequate
density to support a thriving downtown, parking will remain a part of the customer experience.
By forming a parking task force, we can work directly with merchants and residents to create
solutions toward achieving these goals:
• Encourage turnover of prime parking stalls
• Encourage use of off-street parking
• Discourage vehicles that don't need to be in the CBD
• Encourage walking and density in CBD
• Raise the monetary value of parking in the CBD to attract investment
• Communicate that the city does care and is listening and responsive •
The Downtown Everett Association looks forward to partnering with you and city administration
to support a vibrant and thriving downtown, today and into the future.
Respectfully,
Pa Doh
Dana Oliver
Executive Director
cc Dan Eernissee, Economic Development Director
118
