City of Everett,WA
Response Letter
.May 5,2017
Page 3
Item 5: The drawings should indicate specific signage to indicate that egress doors will be open
during business hours, per IBC section 1010.1.9.3, item 2.2.
a. The door schedule should indicate that any locking devices on these doors are
readily distinguishable as beiing locked.
Response: All egress doors indicated on sheet EG1.00 shall receive panic hardware. Please refer
to sheet A3.01 for the Door Hardware Schedule. Hardware Set #1 and #11 are
equipped with an exit device,
Item 6. Please dimension minimum egress widths at interior and exterior exit access aisles. The
minimum exterior width is 44 inches, per IBC section 1101.2.1.
Response: Refer to sheet EG1.00 for the dimensioned egress widths at interior and exterior exit
access aisles. •
•
Construction
Item I: Please detail skylight design, per IBC section 2405.
Response: IBC Section 2405 applies to glazing materials installed at a slope of more than 150
from vertical. These skylights are provided by the Pre-Engineered Metal Building
manufacturer and are `Tuf-lite' translucent panels made of white, fire-retardant .
FRP, allowing for light transmission of 60% (see attached supporting documents).
We specify fall-guard over each translucent panel, refer to detail 51A2.20.
.Item 2: Please show primary and secondary roof drainage, per UPC section 1101.1.1.
Response: The FedEx Terminal facility is constructed with a pre-engineered metal seamed
roof at a 1:12 pitch that terminates at a roof gutter system. There are no flat roof
sections that would require roof drains and secondary roof drains. The"roof gutters
are open top design such that if a blockage in multiple downspouts were to occur,
although highly unlikely, the water would overflow the gutter as opposed.to being
backed up onto the roof. The roof is in no danger of water entrapment that would
be subjected to standing water due to the pitched roof design with no parapets.
Item 3: Please provide plumbing fixture calculations per the Washington State amended IBC
Chapter 29.
a. The number of fixtures provided appear to be lower than what is required for the
women's toilet room: 3 water closets appear to be required per IBC table
2902.1, as amended by the State of Washington.
b. Why do.the calculations refer to the OBC?
c. _Why is there a reference to the actual occupant load, when the calculated
occupant load should be used for determining exits, plumbing fixtures, etc.?
Response: Refer to the revised plumbing fixture calculations on the Code Summary of the
Cover sheet. The calculations no longer refer to the OBC and the actual occupant
load has been removed.
