November 29, 2018
Impact on Future Permit Requests
The use of performance based risk management for part of the definition of the
hazardous (classified) area boundaries and prescriptive definitions for other elements,
has potential impacts on future permit applications.
Future permit requests will be affected by any changes in the NEC to either open
container or fueled aircraft prescriptive requirements.
Proposed changes in process conditions affecting any of the critical input parameters
identified in the Geminus report (e.g. the process equipment, process chemicals,
ventilation rates, or aircraft size) outside the thresholds used in this analysis will require
review to determine whether the change adversely impacts the hazardous area
boundaries. Any adverse impact to hazardous area boundaries will require a revision to
the alternative means of compliance agreement.
Should you have any questions or concerns, or require additional information, please
feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
/
Todd Haberlack
Civic Affairs Manager
THE BOEING COMPANY
Page 10 of 10,x"
