We need a clarification of the IEBC procedure being used for this project. As an example,the Work Area method of Chapter 5 requires the work to be classified. For this project,that appears to be either an Alteration Level 2 or 3, where the latter applies if the work exceeds 50%of the building area. A structural evaluation of the structure using reduced IBC loads would be required (IEBC Section 907.4.2); capacities (diaphragms, shear walls, connections, detailing, seismic design criteria, etc.) are determined by current code requirements. This is different than the one-page analysis submitted that only compares loads between the new and existing condition, but has not evaluated the capacities of the members. 47rPlease determine the procedure being used in the design.
