1.10 CUTTING AND PATCHING , <br /> A. Contractor shall be responsible for all cutting, fitting, and patching, including attendant <br /> excavation and backfill, required to complete the Work or to: <br /> 1. Make all parts fit together properly. <br /> 2. Uncover portions of the Work to provide for installation of ill-timed work. <br /> 3. Remove and replace defective work. <br /> 4. Remove and replace work not conforming to the requirements of Contract <br /> Documents. <br /> 5. Remove samples of installed work as specified for testing. <br /> B. Provide products as specified or as required to complete cutting and patching , <br /> operations. <br /> C. Inspection: ' <br /> 1. Inspect existing conditions of the Project, including elements subject to damage or <br /> to movement during cutting and patching. <br /> 2. After uncovering Work, inspect the conditions affecting the installation of products <br /> or performance of the Work. <br /> 3. Report unsatisfactory or questionable conditions to the Engineer in writing; do not <br /> proceed with the Work until the Engineer has provided further instructions. ' <br /> D. Preparation: <br /> 1. Provide adequate temporary support as necessary to assure the structural value or <br /> integrity of the affected portion of the Work. <br /> 2. Provide devices and methods to protect other portions of the Project from damage. <br /> 3. Provide protection from the elements for that portion of the Project that may be <br /> exposed by cutting and patching work, and maintain excavations free from water. <br /> 4. Execute fitting and adjustment of products to provide a finished installation to <br /> comply with specified products, functions, tolerances, and finishes. <br /> 5. Restore Work that has been cut or removed; install new products to provide <br /> completed Work in accordance with requirements of Contract Documents. <br /> 6. Fit work airtight to pipes, sleeves, ducts, conduit, and other penetrations through <br /> surfaces. <br /> 1.11 EASEMENTS AND RIGHTS-OF-WAY ' <br /> A. Confine construction operations to the immediate vicinity of the location indicated on <br /> Drawings and use due care in placing construction tools, equipment, excavated <br /> materials, and pipeline materials and supplies, so as to cause the least possible <br /> damage to property and interference with traffic. <br /> 1.12 FENCES ' <br /> A. Maintain all fences affected by the Work until completion of the Work. Erect temporary <br /> fencing as approved to maintain continuous plant security where existing fencing is to <br /> be removed. Restore any permanent fencing affected by construction activities. <br /> B. Keep gates closed and locked when not in use. <br /> 1.13 PROTECTION OF PUBLIC AND PRIVATE PROPERTY <br /> A.
