7. OK <br /> 8. The Washington State energy code table R402.1.1 requires the fenestration Ufactor <br /> for climate zones 5 and marine 4 to be U-.30, and the skylight U-factor is U-.50 or <br /> less. After consulting with the WSU Energy Code Residential Representative Tracy <br /> Beavers on October 1, 2014, I was informed the project qualifies for the Energy Code <br /> Exemption R101.4.3 in which alterations or repairs which do not fully conform with <br /> all the requirements of this code may be allowed, as: <br /> a. The cost of spray foam insulation and/or the replacement of existing windows <br /> and doors would be economically impractical; <br /> b. The repair considerably improves the energy performance of the building by <br /> adding insulation to previously un-insulated spaces, introducing a more <br /> energy efficient water heater and energy efficient heat source; <br /> c. The repair was necessary to the health and wellbeing of the family that reside <br /> there, as the replaced/repaired roof and adjacent walls were rotten due to <br /> water damage,posing both a structural and mold threat. <br /> Sincerely, <br /> Carly McGinn <br />
