She has helped to secure millions <br /> for clients through the Department of Justice (DOJ) grants programs,as well as the Federal <br /> Emergency Management Agency(FEMA)Assistance to Fire Fighter grants and Flood Mitigation <br /> Assistance grants. <br /> Ms.Barkovic coordinates with a large number of Urban Search&Rescue (US&R) sponsoring <br /> agencies to advocate for annual appropriations. Recently,she oversaw the lobbying effort to <br /> reauthorize FEMA's Urban Search&Rescue Program.The legislation,S.2971,was signed into law <br /> in December 2016,also clarifies worker compensation and liabilities for first responders when <br /> deployed by FEMA. <br /> Before joining Holland&Knight in 2005,Ms.Barkovic served as a legislative assistant for five years <br /> in the office of former Rep.Mark Foley(R-FL).
