All fire alarm control panels(FACP)and sprinkler valves shall be in heated rooms or closets with standard man door access. Locations shall be approved by the Fire Code Official(NFPA 13 8.16.4.1.3). 53. The location of Fire Department connections(FDC)and post indicator valves(PIV)shall be determined by the Fire Code Official. Fire apparatus roads shall have a minimum unobstructed width of 26 feet in the immediate vicinity of any building or portion of building more than 30 feet in height.At least one of the required access routes shall be located within a minimum of 15 feet and a maximum of 30 feet from the building and shall be positioned parallel to one entire side of the building. The elevator car shall be of such a size and arrangement to accommodate a 24-inch by 84-inch ambulance stretcher in the horizontal,open position and shall be identified by the international symbol for emergency medical services(star of life). The symbol shall not be less than 3 inches high and shall be placed inside on both sides of the hoistway door frame. Exception: If all stories within the building have direct, accessible egress to grade(EMC 16.01, Section L; IBC 3002.4,2012 Edition). 57. Commercial and industrial buildings exceeding 30 feet or three stories in height shall have at least two means of fire apparatus access for each structure.
