C::
HOUSING CODE INSPECTION REPORT
/711
FROM: Marian Dent, City of Everett Housing Inspector
DATE: May 13. 1993
SUBJ: 4018 1/2 Hoyt
After receiving a complaint from the tenant of this rental unit an
inspection was conducted and the following deficiencies were noted
pursuant to the Uniform Housing Code:
1. The single family residence has been converted into a
duplex without obtaining authorization from the Zoning
Code and without the required Building permits.
2. The ceiling height in the basement unit does not meet the
required 7 feet 6 inches for habitable rooms and is less
that than the minimum of 7 feet for other areas.
3. The bedrooms do not have windows. All sleeping rooms
below the fourth story shall have at least one operable
window or exterior door approved for emergency escape or
rescue.
4. The bathroom sink leaks at the water supply.
5. The electrical service has been altered and does not meet
the requirements of the National Electrical Code. The
service for the upstairs unit is not readily accessible
by the upstairs tenant. The service is not enclosed by an
approved method, and may be considered dangerous.
6. There are bare electrical connections throughout the
basement unit at the service panel. The electrical
system does not meet the requirements of the National
Electrical Code and may be considered dangerous to the
occupants.
It is hence forth required that a licensed electrical contractor
perform the necessary work on the electrical service and system of
this building.
•
•
