New blocking is shown below the fire place between the first and second joist. Verify if <br /> blocking should also be provided between the first joist and the wall. <br /> MODS response: Blocking is only required in bays below the fireplace wall. Blocking in the <br /> first bay is not required unless the new fireplace wall aligns with the first bay. <br /> b. The extend of blocking along the fireplace should be specified. <br /> MODS response: Continuous under the fireplace wall. See revised note on Section C, <br /> Sheet A 6.2. <br /> c. A portion of the fireplace extends over the new overframing per Sheet A3.1. Verify if <br /> blocking is required in this area. <br /> MODS response: Yes, blocking is required. See revised note on Section C. Sheet A 6.2. <br /> d. Verify if new hangars are required at each end of the sistered joists. <br /> MODS response: No, the joists sit on beams, they are not hung. <br /> 3. Demolition Notes D1 and D7 indicate that the existing wall framing will be demolished and <br /> reframed. Elevations and details for the wall reframing shall be provided in the construction <br /> drawings for review. The framing shall be provided with protection against decay per IBC <br /> Section 2304.12. See IBC Sections 107.2.1 and 1603.1. <br /> MODS response: See Elevation/Section G on Sheet 8.1 and Elevation B on Sheet A6.2 <br /> 4. Sheet A3.1 shows new concrete ramps and stairs. Partial plans and details shall be provided in <br /> the construction drawings showing the required construction. The required material properties <br /> shall be specified (e.g., concrete strength, etc.). See IBC Sections 107.2.1, 1603.1, and <br /> 1901.5. <br /> MODS response: See Sheet A8.1 with details and notes. <br /> 5. Sheet A3.1 shows a new pony wall at the northwest corner of the building. The wall shall be <br /> design for the guard loads per IBC Section 1607.8. Details for the construction of the wall shall <br /> be provided in the construction drawings. Calculations substantiating the design of the wall <br /> and connections to the existing structure shall be submitted for review.
