AUG
Tony Lee
CITY OF
City of Everett Pe►mlt TT
3200 Cedar Street
Everett WA 98201
RE: The Everett Clinic Imaging Center
Dear Tony Lee,
The two sets of drawings submitted allow the corrections and/or
modifications that have been requested. Below are the responses to the
comments of your letter dated 22 July 1998.
1. Meeting room l is an A-3 Occupancy and requires two exits based on occupant lad.
Both exits are shown accessed by the existing corridor. The corridor is abo then
required to have two exits. Currently, the corridor is shown to atop at door 3001.
The rated corridor should to connect both exit stairs from the floor per Section
1004.2.2.
Response: The plans have been changed to snake door 3001 a horizontal
exit. See sheets At.I and A2.3.
2. If the intent is that a horizontal exit be located at the doors separating the meeting
room lobby and lobby room 300 then the following requirements per Section
1005.3.5 should be met.
a) The horizontal exit shall completely divide the floor into two exit -access areas.
b) The wall shall be constructed to be equivalent to two-hour occupancy separation:
i) Walls shall be continuous from exterior wall to exterior wall and shall
extend from the floor to the underside of the lot or roof directly above.
ii) Wall construction shall be a minimum of two-hour fire -resistance.
iii) Structure supporting the walls require equivalent fire resistance.
iv) Openings rerquire a 90-minute rating.
v) Openings require a maximum temperature rise of 450 degrees.
C) No more than 50% of the exits are permitted to be horizontal exits.
Response: The intent of the plan now is to provide a horizontal exit. The
rated wall extends from the east exterior wall to the west exterior wall.
The wall will be constructed per UL design U453. The doors in the wall
be changed to 90-minute rating. Only one of the two exits is a horizontal
exit. The existing structure is Type II, FR.
ec:file
Page 1
