STRIDElit
cans-traction
cu,Inc.
March 20,2019
City of Everett
Public Works
3200 Cedar Street
Everett,WA 98201
RE: Project No. UP3660 Alverson Stormwater Separation Project
Strider Construction Bid Error
To Whom It May Concern:
We have reviewed our bid for the subject project and regrettably have discovered some significant
errors compelling us to Claim Error and withdraw our bid proposal. Pursuant to Washington State
Department of Transportation 2016 Standard Specifications,Section 1-03.1 Consideration of Bids and
the City of Everett's Special Provisions, 1-03.1 as modified, please find the errors summarized as follows
with supporting documentation in the attachments:
1. Project Supervision is lacking the proper duration of time. We anticipated the project duration
taking 70 days of the permitted 85 working days, equating to approximately 176 hours/month
for an assistant project engineer for a total of 528 hours, while 200 hours/month for project
superintendent for a total of 600 hours as well as corresponding hours for a project manager.
Attachment'A' reflects a 2 month cost of supervision, though the bid notes specified 3 months
the item was set up as 'Lump Sum'and did not calculate properly. This will be an added cost of
$38,563.58 to our bid item No. 1 Mobilization.
2. Placement time of labor and equipment for the crushed rock item was not added into Bid Item
No. 10 Crushed Surfacing Base Course, creating an additional cost of$33,604.00. See
Attachment'B'. These items were noted as'non-additive' in the estimating software program at
time of bid.
•
Given Strider is herewith claiming bid error and withdrawing our bid per the specifications,we are
requesting relief from the responsibilities of Award as noted in the General Requirements, Division 1,
page SP 48&SP 49.
