Tawnya Herman
From: Tony Lee
Sent: Friday, May 12, 2017 7:42 AM
To: 'forestvilla302'
Cc: Tawnya Herman
Subject: RE: 3421 Tulalip Avenue, Everett,WA
Hello MaryJayne and thank you for your narrative.
I have had an opportunity to look into this issue. The structure was found to be undergoing work that required permits
which was why the stop work order was issued. The house had been taken down to bare studs. When this occurs we
value the renovation work at$71 per square feet - please note that this is our published fee that we have used for quite
some time. This fee factor assumes a previously finished out area—the fee for finishing unfinished areas is higher. I
have, however, just added a new category for remodels greater than 1000 square feet. This has brought down the
permit fees from $ 2,876 owing to$ 2,168.73 owing—a reduction to you at$708.
Also, please note that Everett does not currently charge an investigation fee that is common at most jurisdictions for
work begun without required permits—this fee is usually equal and in addition to the permit fee. If you need any further
assistance, please contact me directly.
Thank you,
Tony Lee
Building Official
From:forestvilla302 [mailto:forestvilla302@gmail.com]
Sent: Monday, May 08, 2017 1:25 PM
To:Tony Lee<TLee@everettwa.gov>
Subject:3421 Tulalip Avenue, Everett,WA
Dear Tony Lee,
I am a home owner of 3421 Tulalip Avenue.
I bought the place and thought to bring everything up to very good condition.
The previous owners passed away and the house needs upgrading.
My other properties are in Skagit County.
Although I worked at Providence Everett for years as an RN, I have not lived in Snohomish County.
I hired an architect named Art Peterson to draw the house "As Is" and get ready for permitting.
I need an electrician for wiring and thought this would be done through Labor& Industries by the electrician.
There is not any structural change planned for this old house. Originally built in 1930, it has a historic charm&
my intentions are to keep the same spaces and upgrade all the areas that looked shabby and dated.
New tile and bathrooms. New kitchen cabinets and appliances. Flooring& fixtures, adding LED lighting&
energy efficient windows and insulation.
My objective for this project was very standard. No add ons or structural changes planned.
The next door neighbor asked if I would fix the fence on the property line.
149
