I Existing Conditions: This section summarizes the "existing demographic and economic conditions" for the Everett Planning Area. 1. Demographics: Who Lives In Everett? Demographic data for the Planning Area is based upon the 1990 US Census figures and is broken down by Planning sub-areas. The highlights are summarized herein. a. Population: There were 104,456 persons living within the Everett Planning Area in 1990. The most heavily populated sub-areas were #5 (South Point) with 26,947, #1 (North End)with 26,431, and #2 (Central) with 22,636, followed by #6 (Silver Lake) with 17,928, #4 (Paine - Stickney) with 6,947, and #3 (Southwest), with 3,567. (See map of Everett Planning Area.) b. Ethnic Origin: The Everett Planning Area population is predominantly white (92.3%), I with all sub-areas at or above 92%, except sub-area 5 (South Point), which has an 89.2% white population. The next highest ethnic category is Asian at 3.7%, followed by African- American at 1.6%, American Indian at 1.4%, and "other" at 0.9%. Hispanic population, I which is considered to be a language group rather than a racial group, totaled 2.8% of the population of the Everett Planning Area. Sub-area I #3 (Southwest) had the highest median age of the sub-areas, with 35.4, while sub-area #5 (South Point)had the lowest median age, with 28.6. The median age for all of Snohomish County was 32.2. For the entire Planning Area, 26.7% of the population was under the age of 18, while 11.4% was 65 or older.
