J OOMPIP <br /> / <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 6669 <br /> A Resolution Authorizing the Mayor to Execute a Joint Letter with the Snohomish County <br /> Executive in Support of a Joint Application to Designate Facilities Supporting <br /> the Next Generation of the Boeing 777 as a Project of Statewide Significance; and <br /> Authorizing the City Council President a Letter Acknowledging <br /> City Council Support for the Proposed Designation. <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds the following: <br /> 1. The Boeing Company has been located in Everett since 1943, and has been <br /> manufacturing wide body aircraft at the southwest Everett assembly plant since 1966; <br /> 2. Everett is the home of the Boeing Company 747, 767, 777 and 787 programs; <br /> 3. The 777 line is one of the company's best-selling aircraft, and is designed and assembled <br /> at the Everett Boeing facility; <br /> 4. Boeing is expected to announce its intent to build the next generation of 777 aircraft; <br /> 5. Washington Governor Jay Inslee asked Everett Mayor Ray Stephanson to chair a task <br /> force of local and state agencies to plan and expedite permitting for new facilities to <br /> support the next generation of the 777 program at the Everett Boeing site or on abutting <br /> property located at Paine Field; <br /> 6. This project is significant to the economy of the City of Everett, Snohomish County, the <br /> greater Puget Sound region, and the entire State of Washington; <br /> 7. The Task Force issued its report at the end of July, 2013; <br /> 8. The City of Everett and Snohomish County strongly support the project because it will <br /> bolster the economy of the region and the State of Washington as a whole; <br /> 9. The State of Washington has promulgated draft rules for the designation of a project as a <br /> Project of Statewide Significance; <br /> 10. The rules will become final soon and project proponents and local governments may then <br /> submit an application to designate a project as a Project of Statewide Significance; <br /> 11. The draft rules require the City to submit a letter of approval from the legislative body <br /> with the application for a Project of Statewide Significance; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Everett City Council that: <br />
