J OOMPIP / RESOLUTION NO. 6669 A Resolution Authorizing the Mayor to Execute a Joint Letter with the Snohomish County Executive in Support of a Joint Application to Designate Facilities Supporting the Next Generation of the Boeing 777 as a Project of Statewide Significance; and Authorizing the City Council President a Letter Acknowledging City Council Support for the Proposed Designation. WHEREAS, the City Council finds the following: 1. The Boeing Company has been located in Everett since 1943, and has been manufacturing wide body aircraft at the southwest Everett assembly plant since 1966; 2. Everett is the home of the Boeing Company 747, 767, 777 and 787 programs; 3. The 777 line is one of the company's best-selling aircraft, and is designed and assembled at the Everett Boeing facility; 4. Boeing is expected to announce its intent to build the next generation of 777 aircraft; 5. Washington Governor Jay Inslee asked Everett Mayor Ray Stephanson to chair a task force of local and state agencies to plan and expedite permitting for new facilities to support the next generation of the 777 program at the Everett Boeing site or on abutting property located at Paine Field; 6. This project is significant to the economy of the City of Everett, Snohomish County, the greater Puget Sound region, and the entire State of Washington; 7. The Task Force issued its report at the end of July, 2013; 8. The City of Everett and Snohomish County strongly support the project because it will bolster the economy of the region and the State of Washington as a whole; 9. The State of Washington has promulgated draft rules for the designation of a project as a Project of Statewide Significance; 10. The rules will become final soon and project proponents and local governments may then submit an application to designate a project as a Project of Statewide Significance; 11. The draft rules require the City to submit a letter of approval from the legislative body with the application for a Project of Statewide Significance; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Everett City Council that:
