B. To provide for a method of orderly transition from the ' <br /> old salary schedules to the new salary schedule, the following • <br /> Shall apply: • <br /> 1. . Any employee whose base salary under a previous <br /> schedule is greater than the base salary provided in <br /> the schedule contained in this Ordinance shall con- <br /> tinue to receive the previous base pay; provided, <br /> however, that an employee working in a classification <br /> designated to be in a salary range prefaced by range <br /> number E shall continue to receive the previous base <br /> pay in accordance with a previous salary schedule only <br /> if the Mayor has not set the salary within the limits <br /> of salary range E as provided in Section 2 (c) of this <br /> Ordinance. <br /> 2. Range numbers prefaced by E are to be considered as <br /> minimum and maximum salary ranges within which the Mayor <br /> may set the salary to be paid an employee. Employees in <br /> pay range numbers prefaced by E are appointive officers. <br /> 3. Range numbers prefaced by H are to be considered as <br /> hourly rates payable pursuant to applicable collective <br /> bargaining agreements. <br /> 4 . Range numbers prefaced by P are established by the <br /> City Council in accordance with the City Charter. <br /> Section 3 : E.C.C. 1.16:360 (Ordinance 20=69, Section 1) <br /> is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> A. Seasonal day laborers employed by the City in the Recreation <br /> Department will be rated by their qualifications, experience and <br /> background, and type and nature of duties to be performed and compen- <br /> sated at a minimum of no less than One Dollar and Seventy Cents per <br /> hour, and a maximum of no more than Four Dollars per hour. These <br /> employees employed ' in the Recreation Department are exempt from <br /> minimum wage, equal pay in overtime pay if they are employed less <br /> than seven months in any calendar year pursuant to Section 13 (a) , <br /> (b) of the Fair Labor Standards Act as amended April 8 , 1974 . <br /> B. Day Laborers employed by the City in all other City De- <br /> partments will be rated by their qualifications, experience and <br /> background, and type and nature of duties to be performed and com- <br /> pensated at a minimum of no less than Two Dollars per hour and a <br /> maximum of no more than Four Dollars per hour. <br /> C. The Mayor and/or his designee, together with each Department <br /> Head employing day laborers, shall establish the rate of pay, there- <br /> fore, within the minimum and maximum rate based on the qualifications, <br /> experience and background of each day laborer employee and the type <br /> and nature of the duties that the day laborer shall perform. <br /> Section 4 : There is hereby adopted as part of the Salary Ordinanc <br /> a longevity schedule for full-time employees, except commissioned polio <br /> officers and bus operators, based on years of service the amount of <br /> which shall be added to and be considered as part of, base pay, as folk <br /> After completion of four (4) years - $25. 00 per month <br /> After completion of eight (8) years - $50. 00 per month <br /> After completion of twelve (12) years - $75. 00 per month <br /> After completion of sixteen (16) years - $100 . 00 per month <br />
