self-closing door equivalent to a solid wood door not <br /> less than 1-3/4 inches thick. Enclosures shall include <br /> landings between flights and any corridors, passageways, <br /> or public rooms necessary for continuous exit to the <br /> exterior of the building . <br /> The stairway need not be enclosed in a continuous shaft <br /> if cut off at each story by the fire-resistive construc- <br /> tion required by this Subsection for stairwell enclosures . <br /> Enclosures shall not be required if an automatic fire ex- <br /> tinguishing system is provided for all portions of the <br /> building except bedrooms, apartments, and rooms accessory <br /> thereto, provided that one sprinkler head is installed <br /> inside every opening leading into exit ways. " <br /> Section 13: That Subsection 1313 (m) of the Appendix of <br /> the Uniform Building Code, 1973 Edition, be and hereby is <br /> amended to read as follows: <br /> "Section 1313 (m) - Alternates <br /> No alternate method of obtaining the fire protection and <br /> safety required by this Section may be used unless ap- <br /> proved by the Fire Prevention Review Board. " <br /> Section 14: That Subsection 7009 (b) of the Appendix of <br /> the Uniform Building Code, 1973 Edition, be and hereby <br /> is amended to read as follows: <br /> "Section 7009 (b) - Slope <br /> The slope of cut surfaces shall be no steeper than is <br /> safe for the intended use . Cut slopes shall be no steep- <br /> er than two horizontal to one vertical. <br /> EXCEPTION: For minor cuts not intended to support <br /> structures, the maximum slope permitted may be one to <br /> one, subject to the approval of the Building Official. " <br /> Section 15: That Subsection 7010 (f) of the Appendix of <br /> the Uniform Building Code, 1973 Edition, be and hereby <br /> is amended to read as follows : <br /> "Section 7010 (f) - Slope <br /> The slope of fill surfaces shall be no steeper than is <br /> safe for the intended use. Fill slopes shall be no <br /> steeper than two horizontal to one vertical. <br /> EXCEPTION: For minor fills not intended to support <br /> structures, the maximum slope permitted may be one <br /> vertical to one and one-half horizontal, subject to the <br /> approval of the Building Official . " <br /> Section 16: That Ordinance No. 130-71, Ordinance No . <br /> 261-73, and all other ordinances and parts of ordinances <br /> in conflict therewith are hereby repealed; PROVIDED said <br /> Ordinance No. 130-71 which adopted the 1970 Edition of <br /> the Uniform Building Code, and Ordinance No. 261-73 which <br /> adopted Chapter 70 of the 1970 Edition of the Uniform <br /> Building Code shall remain effective and shall govern <br /> all interpretations that may arise as to all permits <br /> issued by the Building Official or the Building Divi- <br /> sion of the Department of Community Development of the <br /> -7- <br />
