• ORDINANCE NO. , , /`/ AN ORDINANCE regulating the installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of all electrical wires, equipment and apparatus, providing for the adoption of the National Electrical Code 1971; Department of Labor and Industries , Electrical Inspection Division, Rules and Regulations for Installing Electric Wires and Equipment and Administrative Rules , April 1, 1972; Department of Labor and Industries , Electrical Installations Law, December 1, 1972; Department of Labor and Industries, Rules for Electrical Construction, Revised September, 1965; Department of Labor and Industries, Rules and Regulations for Mobile Homes, Commercial Coaches and Recreational Vehicles, Revised January 1, 1972; Department of Labor and Industries , Electrical Construction Code, adopted December 1, 1964; providing for permits, charges, and providing for penalty of violation thereof, and repealing Ordinance No. 75-70. THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1, DEFINITIONS The word "person" whenever used in this Chapter shall be held and construed to mean, and include natural persons of either sex, associations, co-partnerships and corporations, whether acting by themselves or by a servant, agent or employee; the singular number shall be held to include the plural and the masculine pronoun to include the feminine. The word "inspector" whenever used in this chapter shall be held and construed to mean and include the City Electrical Inspector of the City of Everett or any of his duly authorized assistants. The word "Code" when used in this ordinance or a correction notice shall mean the Electrical Code of the City of Everett. The term "Electrical Permit" shall mean any permit required by the Electrical Code, Ordinance No. The term "notify or serve notice" whenever used in conjunction with this chapter shall be satisfied when either a written or verbal order is given by the inspector. The word "should" whenever used in this ordinance or in the National Electrical Code shall be interpreted to mean "shall" . The words "electrical equipment" wherever used in this chapter shall be held and construed to mean and include any electrical wires, appliances, apparatus or electrical construction of any kind except as are or may be used for telephone, telegraph or traffic signal purposes , installed or used in any building or structure in the City of Everett. The word "approved" wherever used in this chapter, shall be held and construed to mean and include the approval of the City Electrical Inspector. "Waterfront area" shall be defined as all areas adjacent to Port Gardner Bay and/or the Snohomish River and situated on the bay and/or river side of the Burlington Northern Railway trackage that circumvents the City of Everett shall, for the purposes of this ordinance, be considered as, and classified waterfront areas.
