& ASSOCIATES, INC.
GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING • ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING
CONSTRUCTION TESTING & INSPECTION
August 12, 2016 KA Project No. 09216017
Ms. Lisa Greenough Phone: (206)465-8840
6412 Riviera Court Email:jl.greeno@frontier.com
Mukilteo,WA 98275
Reference: Limited Geotechnical Surficial Reconnaissance
4613 Baker Drive
Everett,WA 98203
Greetings:
This letter presents the results of our pre-purchase walk-through geotechnical reconnaissance for the single
family residence located at 4613 Baker Avenue in Everett, Washington. We visited the site to observe
surficial conditions on August 11, 2016. The scope of services does not include any subsurface exploration
or sample collection. Our scope of services was performed in general accordance with our proposal for this
project, dated August 9,2016 (Proposal Number G16670WAL).
Introduction
The property is situated at the top of a steep slope overlooking Possession Sound, within the northern portion
of Puget Sound. A multi-story, single family residence with an attached garage occupies the site.
The purpose of this study is to collect geotechnical and geologic information as part of a pre-purchase
reconnaissance of the property. The scope of services is limited to a review of published geologic maps, a
site visit to observe the surficial conditions at the property, and a letter documenting our findings.
Our geotechnical reconnaissance is intended to identify or better define previously identified geologic
hazards that could potentially impact the subject property.
Geologic Setting
We referred to "The Preliminary Surficial Geologic Map of the Mukilteo and Everett Quadrangles,
Snohomish County, Washington", prepared by Mackey Smith (State of Washington Department of Natural
Resources—Division of Geology and Earth Resources, prepared in cooperation with the USGS, 1976) during
our project research.
The geologic map indicates that the southern portion of the property, where the ground surface is nearly
level, is underlain by Quaternary Vashon recessional outwash (Qvr). The northern portion of the property,
where the steep slope is located, is underlain by the Whidbey Formation(Qw) and ancient landslide deposits
(Qols). Quaternary Vashon glacial till(Qvt)and Quaternary Esperance Sand(Qe)are mapped nearby.
With Offices Serving The Western United States
4303—198`h Street SW•Lynnwood,Washington 98036•(425)485-5519•Fax:(425)485-6837
