To provide for a method of orderly transition from the old salary schedules to the new salary schedule, the follow- ing shall apply: I. Any employee whose base salary under a previous schedule is greater than the base salary provided in the schedule contained in this Ordinance shall con- tinue to receive the previous base pay; provided, however, that an employee working in a classification designated to be in a salary range prefaced by range number E shall continue to receive the previous base pay in accordance with a previous salary schedule only if the Mayor has not set the salary within the limits of salary range E as provided in Section 2 (c) of this Ordinance. C. Range numbers prefaced by E are to be considered as minimum and maximum salary ranges within which the Mayor may set the salary to be paid an employee. Employees in pay range numbers prefaced by E are appointive officers. D. Range numbers prefaced by H are to be considered as hourly rates payable pursuant to applicable collective bar- gaining agreements. E. Range numbers prefaced by P are established by the City Council in accordance with the City Charter.
