The street number shall be <br /> 2 assigned according to its location within the gridline numbering <br /> 3 system defined in Section 2 , and further defined as follows : <br /> 4 1. Streets and avenues which by definition <br /> (Section 4) are coincident with gridlines <br /> 6 shall acquire that <br /> q gridline number . <br /> 7 2 . Places and drives which by definition <br /> 8 <br /> (Section 4) are not coincident with gridlines <br /> shall acquire the next lower numbered grid- <br /> 10 <br /> line number. <br /> 11 3 . Roads , boulevards , ways , and lanes shall <br /> 12 be identified only by names. These street <br /> 13 <br /> types may not acquire a number identification. <br /> 14 <br /> 4. Numbered streets will not be identified by <br /> 15 <br /> a spelling of the number. Numbers must be <br /> 16 <br /> identified by numeric characters followed <br /> 17 <br /> by an ordinal reference as follows : <br /> 18 <br /> 1st <br /> 19 <br /> 2nd <br /> 20 <br /> 3rd <br /> 21 <br /> 4th <br /> 22 <br /> Et al . <br /> 23 <br /> D. Type - The type shall be the third segment of a <br /> 24 <br /> street designation. The only acceptable type designations <br /> 25 <br /> and acceptable abbreviations shall be : <br /> 26 <br /> Avenue - Av. <br /> 27 <br /> Drive - Dr. <br /> 23 <br /> Street - St. <br /> 29 <br /> Place - P1. <br /> 30 <br /> Road - Rd. <br /> 31 <br /> Way - Wy. <br /> 32 <br /> Lane - Ln. <br />
