The prefix designation is meant to distinguish <br /> 2 two identically named streets which have been <br /> 3 divided by some geographical barrier, obstacle, <br /> 4 natural formation, or other topographical <br /> 5 feature, such that the street surrounds a lake <br /> 6 or divides to parallel a river on each bank. <br /> 7 Streets which separate to surround or encompass <br /> 8 man-made divisions such as city blocks must <br /> 9 acquire separate names, and will not be per- <br /> 10 mitted to be distinguished by prefix designatior <br /> 11 alone. <br /> 12 3 . A "west" prefixed street name must be comple- <br /> 13 mented by a corresponding "east" prefixed <br /> 14 street. <br /> 15 4 . A "north" prefixed street name must be comple- <br /> 16 mented by a corresponding "south" prefixed <br /> 17 street. <br /> 18 5 . Numbered streets shall have no prefix. <br /> 19 Numbered streets that divide for any reason <br /> 20 must be numbered in accordance with Section 5, <br /> 21 C, and may not be distinguished by prefix. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 C . Name/Number - The name/number shall be the second <br /> 24 segment of a street designation. The name may be any combination <br /> 25 of letters forming a recognizable noun form which should not <br /> 26 duplicate the name of any presently existing street within <br /> 27 Snohomish County. Following the adoption of this ordinance, all <br /> 28 new streets , avenues, places , and drives will be designated by <br /> 29 number only.
