I . Any employee whose base salary under a previous• <br /> schedule is greater than the base salary provided in the, • <br /> schedule contained in this Ordinance shall continue to <br /> receive the previous base pay; provided, however , that <br /> an employee working in a classification designated to be <br /> in a salary range prefaced by range number E shall con- <br /> tinue to receive the previous base pay in accordance <br /> with a previous salary schedule only if the Mayor has <br /> not set the salary within the limits of salary range E <br /> as provided in Section 2 (c) of this Ordinance. <br /> C. Range numbers prefaced by E are to be considered <br /> as minimum and maximum salary ranges within which the Mayor <br /> may set the salary to be paid an employee. Employees in pay <br /> range numbers prefaced by E are appointive officers . <br /> D. Range numbers prefaced by H are to be considered as <br /> hourly rates payable pursuant to applicable collective bar- <br /> gaining agreements . <br /> E. Range numbers prefaced by P are established by the <br /> City Council in accordance with the City Charter . <br /> Section 3 : E .C.C. 1. 16 .360 (Ordinance 20-69 , Section 1) <br /> is hereby amended to read as follows : <br /> Day Laborers employed by the City in any City department may <br /> be rated by their qualifications , experience and background, <br /> and type and nature of duties to be performed and compensated <br /> at a minimum of no less than One Dollar and Sixty-Five Cents <br /> per hour and maximum of no more than Three Dollars and Twenty- <br /> five Cents per hour. Day Laborers so rated and compensated <br /> shall be designated rated day laborers . The Mayor , together <br /> with each department head employing day laborers , shall es- <br /> tablish the rate of pay therefore within the minimum and maximum <br /> rate based on the qualifications , experience and background of <br /> each day laborer employee and the type and nature of the duties <br /> that the day laborer shall perform. <br /> Section 4: There is hereby adopted as part of the salary <br /> ordinance a longevity schedule for full time employees based <br /> on years of service the amount of which shall be added to and <br /> be considered a part of, base pay, as follows : <br /> Beginning with the first of the 6th year - $10 per month <br /> Beginning with the first of the 11th year - $20 per month <br /> Beginning with the first of the 16th year - $30 per month <br /> Beginning with the first of the 21st year - $40 per month <br /> Longevity shall not affect part-time or appointed employees , <br /> or employees in the pay range numbers prefaced E in Section 2 <br /> above. <br /> Section 5 : Upon becoming eligible, commissioned police <br /> officers may choose to either avail themselves of longevity as <br /> set forth in Section 4 above or to participate in the following <br /> incentive plan for the completion of approved college courses , <br /> the amount of which shall be added to, and be considered a part <br /> of , base pay. College incentive pay may not be received during <br /> the initial nine month probationary period. <br /> There shall be a joint Everett Police Officers Association <br /> and City Administration committee established which shall de- <br /> termine the appropriatness of areas of study for which the in- <br /> centive pay may be granted.
