• <br /> Longevity shall not affect part-time or appointed employees, ' <br /> or employees in the pay range numbers prefaced E in Section 2 <br /> above. <br /> Section 5: Bus operators, who are requested by their <br /> supervisors to act as bus operator trainers , shall be paid <br /> $1.00 per hour premium pay in addition to their regular <br /> hourly rate. <br /> Section 6: Since greater performance and efficiency can <br /> be secured from employees who have adequate medical care <br /> furnished on a uniform basis, it is in the best interests of <br /> the City of Everett to provide a dual-choice medical care <br /> plan as a form of additional compensation to all City <br /> employees , except members of the Police and Fire Departments <br /> covered by statutory medical plans and temporary employees , a <br /> portion of the cost of a prepaid medical and insurance plan <br /> to be established and administered by the Mayor pursuant to <br /> final settlement of collective bargaining agreements with <br /> recognized bargaining units within the City and pursuant to <br /> a uniform policy to be established and administered by the <br /> Mayor to cover non-bargaining unit employees . <br /> Members of Transit Union Local #883 and their legal <br /> dependents shall receive as a form of additional compensation, <br /> a portion of the cost of a prepaid dental insurance plan to be <br /> established and administered by the Mayor pursuant to final <br /> settlement of collective bargaining agreements with the ap- <br /> propriately recognized bargaining units . <br /> Section 7 : Employees receiving promotions will advance <br /> to the step in the higher classification pay range which is <br /> 5% higher than the step they were at in the range of the <br /> lower classification. Should the lowest step of the pay <br /> range of the higher classification be in excess of 5% higher <br /> than the previous step the employee held, he shall be paid <br /> at the amount of the lowest step in the higher classification. <br /> Upon promotion, the employee 's anniversary date for future <br /> step pay increases will become the date upon which the <br /> promotion became effective. <br /> Section 8 : Upon demotion, an employee shall be paid <br /> either at the step in the lower pay range which is an <br /> amount equal to the step he had been at in the higher <br /> classification or at the highest step of the lower classifi- <br /> cation if all of the steps of the lower pay range are below <br /> the step he had been at in the higher classification. <br /> Section 9 : The appointment of all employees in all <br /> Departments , where required by City Charter, shall be subject <br /> to Civil Service regulations of the City of Everett, providing <br /> that in the event vacancies occur and there is no eligibility <br /> list from which said vacancy may be filled, temporary appoint- <br /> ments may be made of persons without Civil Service standing. <br /> All persons , other than those in pay ranges prefaced H, who <br /> are paid on an hourly basis as hereinafter or herein set <br /> forth shall be considered and be day laborers as defined by <br /> the City Charter governing Civil Service. <br />
