THE CODE <br /> LEVEL OF PROTECTION INTENDED BY IBCWA USING FEASIBLE SYSTEMS AND CONSTRUCTION REQUIRES THIS TRAVEL DISTANCE TO TERMINATE AT AN EXlT.AT MEZZANINE LEVELS TWO AND � <br /> MATERIALS. THIS WAS ADDRESSED BY MR. TONY LEE, BUILDING OFFICIAL FOR CITY OF EVERETT IN <br /> LETTER DATED JULY 30, 2014. THE CLASSIFICATION OF SPECIAL INDUSTRIAL OCCUPANCY FACTORY FLOOR AREAS ARE TO BE PROVIDED WITH VIDEO SMOKE DETECTION. ALARM FOR THE <br /> PERMITS THE BUILDING TO BE EXEMPT FROM THE £UILDING HEIGHT AND AREA LIMITATIONS OF FACTORY AREAS W ILL BE PROVIDED BY HIGH-INTENSITY STROBES AND AUDIBLE APPLIANCES. <br /> IBC TABLE 503. THE BUILDING WILL BE CONSTRUCTED AS TYPE IIB CONSTRUCTION TYPE AS <br /> DEFINED BY SECTION 602.2. ADDITIONALLY, THE MEZZANINE LEVELS ARE REQUIRED TO BE PROTECTED WITH DETECTION AND <br /> NOTIFICATION TO ALERT AND DIRECT THE TOWER OCCUPANTS. THE NOTIFICATION PROVIDED IN THE <br /> 2. IBCWA§910: PROVISION OF SMOKE & HEAT VENTS AND DRAFT CURTAINS MEZZANINE LEVELS AND LEAN-TO SPACES IS BY BOTH VISUAL APPLIANCES AND VOICE . <br /> ANNOUNCEMENTS. THE EXIT ACCESS STAIRS FROM THE MEZZANINE LEVELS WILL BE PROVIDED WITM <br /> A COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS MODEL WAS CONSTRUCTED IN WHICH A SERIES OF ACTIVE SIGNAGE AT THE GROUND LEVEL.THESE SIGNS WILL DIRECT OCCUPANTS TO EXIT FROM THE <br /> SIMULATIONS WERE PERFORMED TO DETERMINE THE BEHAVIOR OF SMOKE WITHIN THE ENCLOSURE AT THE BASE OF THE STAIR INTO EITHER THE NORTH OR SOUTH HIGH-BAY PORTION OF <br /> BUILDING AND TO ASSESS ITS ABILITY TO IMPACT EGRESS. THE RESULTS INDICATED THAT THE THE BUILDING (THAT AREA OF THE BUILDING WHERE THE INCIDENT HAS NOT BEEN REPORTED). <br /> - IMMENSE VOLUME OF EACH HALF OF THE BUILDING WAS SUFFICIENT TO SEQUESTER SMOKE ALTHOUGH NOT REQUtRED BY THE PRESCRIPTIVE CODE DUE TO THEIR CLASSIFICATION AS A <br /> FOR THE DURATION NECESSARY TO EFFECT A SUCCESSFUL EVACUATION OF THE BUILDING. MEZZANINE, PER AGREEMENT WITH TME GTY OF EVERETT, THE STAIRS SERVING THE ELEVATED <br /> FURTHERMORE, CONSIDERING THE CHARACTERISTIC OF THE WALL BETWEEN THE TOWER TOWER LEVELS HAVE BEEN ENCLOSED IN 1-HOUR FIRE RESISTANT CONSTRUCTION TO PROVIDE AN <br /> AND CCA OF BEING IMPERMEABLE TO SMOKE (I.E., TREATING IT AKIN TO A SMOKE PARTITION), ENHANCED LEVEL OF SAFETY FOR THE TOWER OCCUPANTS. <br /> EITHER SIDE CAN FULLY ACCOMMODATE THE FULL QUANTITY OF SMOKE WITMOUT CREDITING <br /> OR RELYING UPON LEAKAGE TO THE OTHER.ALSO RELEVANT TO THIS TOPIC IS THE ABSENCE THESE ITEMS At�E�ROVIDED TO COMPENSATE FOR THE PRESCRIPTIVE CODE REQUIREMENTS THAT <br /> OF ANY MANNED GRANES OVERHEAD WHICH WOULD BE MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO SMOKE ARE NOT MET AND TO PROVIDE AN EQUIVALENT OR INCREASED LEVEL OF SAFETY FOR THE <br /> � OWING TO THEIR HIGH ELEVATION AND POSSIBLY LONG TRAVEL DISTANCE T�AN EXIT DURING OCCUPANTS. <br /> A FIRE EMERGENCY. <br /> ALTHOUGH THE STRUCTURE OF THE BUILDING ITSELF IS CAPABLE OF CONTAINING THE SMOKE ' <br /> FROM THE DESIGN FIRE, MEANS ARE PROVIDED TO VENT SMOKE AFTER A FIRE EVENT. THERE <br /> ARE 10 BUILDING VENTILATION FANS THAT ARE DUCTED AND CONFIGURED SUCH THAT THEY <br /> CAN ALSO EXHAUST THE CCA OR THE POST CURE FORA TOTAL EXHAUST CAPACITY OF 600,000 <br /> CFM [283 M3/S]. TO EXHAUST THE ENTIRE VOLUME OF CCA OR POST CURE, IT WILL TAKE 102 <br /> MWUTES AND 92 MWUTES, RESPECTIVELY. <br /> MANUAL CONTROLS TO INITIATE THIS EXHAUST WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> USE AND WILL BE LOCATED NEXT TO THE FIRE ALARM CONTROL PANELS IN THE LEAN-TO <br /> STRUCTURES ON THE NORTH AND SOUTH FACES OF THE BUILDING,ADJACENT TO EMPLOYEE <br /> BREAK ROOMS.
