PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS AND ESTIMATE REVIEW
Project Title:
CT SWIFT II 90% Lane Closure - Traffic Control Special Provisions
Job Charge: Reviewed By: Office&Mail Stop: Phone: Date: Sheet
Corey N. Hert City of Everett Traffic Engineering 425-257-8887 12/12/2016 1 of 3
# Sht/Pg Reviewer's Comment Designer's Response Init.
1 SP3 We should encourage night work whenever possible along Airport Rd in the
City of Everett. A City of Everett noise variance will be required, but at
most locations work can occur at night. Recommend the following hours
for traffic control lane and shoulder closures within the City of Everett:
• Shoulder closures will be allowed without time restrictions provided
there is no lane encroachment. Shoulder closures with lane
encroachment shall will follow the same restrictions as single lane
closures.
• Single lane closures will be allowed NB on Airport Rd between SR
526 and Evergreen Way from 7:30am and 4:30am.
• Single lane closures will be allowed SB on Airport Rd between SR
526 and Evergreen Way from 5:00pm and 2:00pm, with the
exception of Airport Rd south of Evergreen Way.
Airport Rd south of Evergreen Way is Snohomish County and WSDOT
jurisdiction, and the roadway section changes, so I would recommend you
coordinate detailed hours for lane closures.
•
2 SP3-SP4 It is unlikely that the work can be done excavating and placing the concrete
panels at the Swift II stops with just a single lane closure on Airport Rd.
Multi-lane closure may be desirable, provided they are restricted to only
certain activities, or are given a finite number of working days to allow the
contractor to work as efficiently as possible. I recommend allowing the
following hours for traffic control two lane closures within the City of
Everett:
• Two lane closures will be allowed NB on Airport Rd between SR
526 and Evergreen Way from 8:00am and 4:00am.
• Two lane closures will be allowed SB on Airport Rd between SR
526 and Evergreen Way from 6:30pm and 2:00pm.
Concrete curing will either require a high early mix or round the clock
closures. I would recommend that specification stipulate the concrete
panels be placed on Friday night or Saturday to allow for curing and
placement of asphalt patch (following curing). Weekend work for round the
clock lane closures is recommended on Airport Rd. This may alre dy have
been done other sections of the special provisions. I do not have a fcopy
CT SWIFT II 9opct Lane Closure-Traffic Control Special Provisionsx !}
