Business Open Signage
Business open signs shall be placed at all business entrances located adjacent to lane
closures. Two (2) signs shall be posted back to back at each business entrance when,
in the opinion of the Engineer, the entrance is obscured by traffic control devices.
Business signs will be classified as construction signs and included in the Bid Item
"Project Temporary Traffic Control".
Temporary Driveway Widening
Access shall be maintained to adjacent properties at all times during construction. It
may be necessary for the contractor to pour driveways in multiple segments and/or
construct temporary widening to provide access during driveway construction.
Signs and Traffic Control Devices
All signs and traffic control devices for the permitted closures shall only be installed
during the specified hours. Construction signs, if placed earlier than the specified hours
of closure, shall be turned or covered so as not to be visible to motorists.
Hours of Darkness
When night work is permitted the Contractor shall, at no additional cost to the
Contracting Agency, make all arrangements for operations during hours of darkness.
Flagger stations shall be illuminated using a minimum 150 watt floodlight. Channelizing
devices shall be traffic safety drums with type C steady burn lights.
Lighting used for nighttime work shall, whenever possible, be directed away from, or
shielded from, residences and oncoming traffic.
(March 6, 2000 WSDOT NWR GSP)
Construction vehicles using a closed traffic lane shall travel only in the normal direction
of traffic flow unless expressly allowed in an approved traffic control plan. Construction
vehicles shall be equipped with flashing or rotating amber lights.
Work over an open lane of traffic will not be allowed, unless a plan for the protection of
the traveling public from debris falling onto the traveled way is approved by the Engineer.
This protection shall remain in place during construction and meet minimum vertical
clearance for the highway.
Controlled Access
No special access or egress will be allowed the Contractor other than normal legal
movements or as shown in the Plans.
1-07.24 Rights of Way
Delete this section and replace it with the following:
Street Right of Way lines, limits of easements, and limits of construction permits are
indicated in the Plans. The Contractor's construction activities shall be confined within these
limits, unless arrangements for use of private property are made.
Generally, the Contracting Agency will have obtained, prior to bid opening, all rights of way
and easements, both permanent and temporary, necessary for carrying out the work.
r
Swift Green Line—Corridor Stations Special Provisions SP53
May 2017
