• <br /> Special Provision. Any deviations from these specifications shall be conspicuously noted in the Contractor's <br /> submittal. <br /> Each cable shall contain the total number of optical fibers, as specified in the Plans. For all cables with a strand <br /> count greater than 36,the fibers shall be placed in loose buffer tubes in groups of 12. For all other cables,the <br /> fibers shall be placed in loose buffer tubes in groups of 6. <br /> The fiber optic cable outer jacket shall be marked with the manufacturer's name, the year of manufacture, the <br /> words OPTICAL CABLE, and sequential meter marks.The markings shall be repeated every one meter.The <br /> actual length of the cable shall be within +/- 0.1% of the length marking. The marking shall be in contrasting color <br /> to the jacket. The marking shall be 2.5mm in height and shall be permanent and weatherproof. <br /> Cable shall be of loose tube design. The tubes shall be surrounded 1 by dry moisture 30 blocking filling compound <br /> or tape. The tubes may be filled with dry moisture blocking powder surrounding the fibers. <br /> The cable shall be constructed with the following components: <br /> 1. A dielectric central strength member <br /> 2. Buffer tubes containing optical fibers <br /> 3. Aramid (Kevlar) yarn <br /> 4. Outer MDPE jacket <br /> The Contractor shall provide all materials required for the installation and splicing of the specified communications <br /> cables,power cables, and associated interface devices. <br /> The Contractor shall provide an unconditional warranty on all installed cable for a period of one (1) year. <br /> At the request of the Engineer, the Contractor shall submit a 3-foot sample cable section to the Engineer for <br /> approval for each type of cable to be provided. <br /> 9-29.3(2) Electrical Conductors and Cable <br /> Section 9-29.3(2)is supplemented with the following: <br /> Dual-Element six-conductor shall be a composite of two elements.The first element shall have five 18 AWG <br /> stranded copper conductors and each shall have polyethylene insulation, color coded White, Red,Blue,Black, and <br /> Brown. Insulation thickness shall be a minimum of 16 mils. The second element shall have one 20 AWG solid <br /> copper conductor and shall have foam polyethylene insulation with a minimum thickness of 56 mils. This shall be <br /> surrounded by a 95% bare copper braid with an outer polyethylene insulation jacket with a minimum thickness of <br /> 35 mils. <br /> Both elements shall be enclosed in an outer black PVC jacket having a minimum thickness of 30 mils with ratings <br /> of 600V and 165°F. Both ratings shall be permanently ink imprinted on the outer jacket. The total diameter of the <br /> entire assembly shall be 0.50" ± 0.025". <br /> Except as noted in the following pre-approved list of this section, samples of each item shall be submitted to the <br /> Engineer for approval. <br /> Pre-approved list: <br /> Isotec part X341667-00 <br /> 33 <br /> Swift II BRT Boeing to Canyon Park Station—Traffic Signal 90%Special Provisions—12/1/2016 <br />
