These
include plans for the Swift II Corridor Stations and associated roadway/signal improvements.Additional
permit submittals will follow later this week.
Project Background
Community Transit began operation of Swift Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service along SR 99 in 2009. The
route extends from Everett Station in Everett to Aurora Village Transit Center in Shoreline along the
following.Pacific Avenue,Rucker Avenue,Evergreen Way,and SR 99. For the second Sw BRT line,
Community Transit is focusing on locations that have dense development and sufficient clientele to support
the transit line. The proposed route will link a major employment site (Boeing Everett)with a dense regional
center, encompassing urban villages and centers in Snohomish County,Mill Creek Town Center, and retail
centers such as Thrasher's Corner. The Swift II BRT line will also intersect key roadways (SR 99,I-5,SR 527,
and I-405),thereby creating improved transit connectivity with the original Swift line and many of the regional
express routes that provide service to Downtown Seattle,Bellevue, and other parts of the region via Interstate
5 (1-5) and I-405 (Parsons Brinckerhoff,2014).
Project Location
The SwiftII BRT project is located along SR 527 (Bothell-Everett Highway),SR 96 (132nd Street SE/128Th
Street SE), 128th Street SW,Airport Road,and Seaway Boulevard. The approximate 12-mile route,lying
within portions of Snohomish County and the cities of Bothell,Mill Creek, and Everett, extends from the
existing Canyon Park Park&Ride at SR 527/I-405,northwesterly to the proposed new Seaway Transit
Center on Seaway Boulevard at 75th Street SW,located next to the Boeing Everett Plant.
Project Description
The project includes the construction of thirty-three (33)Sw BRT Stations and associated roadway
improvements along the Sw II corridor. The station improvements will include construction of transit
platforms and associated site improvements, and installation of shelters and amenities.
