May 21st, 2016
Jeff Heilman
'Development Technician'
City of Everett
Subject: Project: Riste –IIECIEllyED
JUL 19 2016
Job Address: 8009 Beverly Blvd CITY OF EVERETT
Plan Check No: C1604-111 Permit ervjce
Dear Mr. Heilman,
In response to your Correction Letter dated May 20th of this month, I have made the following responses
and changes as required.
1. Text:"Provide building section drawn to scale(minimum'A"=1'-0")for the area being finished and the area being converted to
living space under this permit application.Show all existing and proposed components including finished materials.Minimum ceiling
height for habitable spaces is 7 feet"
The drawing is to scale required by code. That scale is listed on the drawing.
All components are listed on the drawing.
Notes have been added to the instruction drawing that drywall will be added and the ceiling
height is 7".Additionally,the section drawing has been updated to reflect the 7' height of the
basement.
You will see these noted as Supplemental Instructions#1 and#2 and on the section drawing.
2. Text: "Show how the area being converted from a garage into living space meets the minimum
requirements of the Washington State Energy Code (WSEC)."
Item in question does not need to meet these standards.
Under the Washington State Energy Code, Section R101.43,Titled, 'Additions,Alterations,
Renovations or Repairs.',Section for Exceptions,#4 reads as follows:
Exception:The following need not comply provided the energy use of the building is not
increased:
#4:Construction where the existing roof, wall or floor cavity is not exposed.
Since the energy use of the building is not increased and the existing roof, wall or floor cavity is
not exposed, this point does not apply to this permit.
Further, the basement is already heated from vents routed under previous remodel work. These
heating points are noted on the drawing.
Additionally, this 'garage' does not meet current standards for a garage in any way. It was and
always has been a part of the basement. There was never separation between this space and
/1—Y)
