• <br /> 5. A commercial kitchen plumbing permit application is required. <br /> Type I Hood (Deferred Submittal) <br /> 1. Please have your contractor submit the required documents and drawings listed in the <br /> attached commercial hood checklist prior as part of the permit application: <br /> https://everettwa.gov/DocumentCenter/HonneNiew/115 <br /> 2. The details behind the Type I hood, a section and the other information summarized on <br /> the attached commercial mechanical submittal checklist and worksheet should be shown <br /> on the drawings and submitted in a deferred hood (Type I and II) mechanical permit <br /> application. The completed worksheet is should be included as part of the submittal. <br /> 3. A rated Type I Hood duct enclosure is required from the point of penetration of the <br /> floor-ceiling assembly to the outlet terminal, per IMC section 506.3.10. Catalog cuts of <br /> the rated enclosure material and installation requirements classified in accordance with <br /> ASTM E 814 should be submitted with the drawings. The start and termination of the <br /> grease duct fire wrap for the Type I hood ducts should be shown on building sections to <br /> extend from the Type I hoods to the outlet terminal, per IMC Section 506.3.10.2. <br /> a. For zero clearance to combustible roof construction, the listed assembly for the <br /> grease duct enclosure system of one hour fire resistant duct fire wrap (two layers) <br /> should be shown to meet the requirements of ASTM E 2336, per IMC section <br /> 506.3.6, exception 3. <br /> b. 18 inches of clearance is required from the combustible roof assembly, unless the <br /> listed assembly of one hour fire resistant duct wrap is shown on the drawings. Note <br /> that an enclosed rated duct enclosure is not required where penetrating a non-rated <br /> roof-ceiling assembly, per IMC section 506.3.11.4. The Type I hood duct enclosure <br /> currently shown on the drawings does not meet the reduction requirements for zero <br /> clearance to combustible construction. <br /> 4. Where the kitchen ceiling abuts the Type I hood, 18 inches (currently 12 inches is <br /> shown) of a smooth, cleanable, nonabsorbent and noncombustible material should be <br /> shown on the drawings between the hood and the ceiling material, per the exception to <br /> IMC section 507.9. <br /> 5. The elevation should be dimension the smooth, cleanable, nonabsorbent and <br /> noncombustible material, shown on the drawings. This wall covering should be noted to <br /> extend 18 inches in all directions from the hood to the full height of the hood canopy, <br /> per the exception to IMC section 507.9. <br /> 6. The inside lower edges of the Type I commercial hoods should be dimensioned on the <br /> drawings to extend minimum 6 inches beyond the edge of the top horizontal surface of i ;', <br /> the appliance on all open sides, unless the hood is closed to the appliance side by a <br /> noncombustible wall or panel meeting the requirements of the exception to IMC section <br /> 507.9, specifically on the hood returns adjacent to wall construction. <br /> 7. The exterior exhaust fan(s) should be shown in section on the drawings to have an <br /> approved drain outlet at the lowest point of the housing to permit drainage of grease to <br /> an approved grease reservoir, per IMC section 506.5.2.
