Please review and
respond to the comments below.
General
1. The existing building is Type III 1-Hr (A) construction. Type II is not possible due to the
wood GLB columns (and the roof is not completely heavy timber). It is possible that the
building could comply as Type III-B construction — calculations would need to be
supplied. If the building stays as Type III-A, fire-resistive details for the roof/ceilings,
walls and columns should be provided (or heavy timber design). Section 602.3
2. The plans should show that special inspection will be provided for the storage racks that
are 8 feet or greater in height. Section 1705.12.7
3. Along with the deferred submissions for the sprinkler and fire alarm systems shown on
the cover sheet, an additional, separate permit submission is required for the storage
racks.
4. The portion of the new exterior pedestrian ramp (Exit C) that is greater than 30 inches
above adjacent grade, or other parts of the ramp should be provided with a guard in
compliance with Section 1015.
5. The handrails for the new exterior pedestrian ramp (Exit C) should both continue past
the edge of the ramp for a minimum of 12 inches at the lowest landing. Section 1014.6
6. The capacity of Exit C is limited by the width of the ramp (5'-4"). The calculations on
Sheet G001 should be revised to show 64" vs 92" (overall exit width still fine however).
Section 1005.3.2
