The Historical Commission <br /> discussed the project at its September 27,2016 meeting and approved a Certificate of <br /> Appropriateness for both the interior tenant improvements in the building and for the signs • <br /> proposed as part of the Comprehensive design plan permits. <br /> Findings and Conclusions: <br /> The following findings and conclusions are based on the criteria established in Subsection <br /> 36.210.A of the City's Zoning Code—Comprehensive Design Plan permits. <br /> 1. The signs are in scale with the extended length of the building's <br /> facades facing California and Wetmore Avenue. <br /> 2. Whether the sign or signs promote the planned land use in the area of the subject property <br /> and enhance the aesthetics of the surrounding area. <br /> Findings: The subject property is located in the B-3 zone,which allows for the proposed <br /> office and retail uses on site. The proposal will identify the use and nature of the business <br /> located on the property. <br /> Conclusion: The new signs promote the business and the planned land use of the zone. The <br /> proposed design theme will enhance the aesthetics of the building and surrounding area. <br /> 3. Whether the signs and their placement obstruct or interfere with any other signs or <br /> property in the area or obstruct natural scenic views. <br /> Findings: The proposed lower wall signs will be placed flush against the facade of the <br /> building. The upper wall signs will extend 1.5 feet over the roofline of the building and <br /> mounted flush with the roof edge.
