s_m EVERETT
MEM WASHINGTON
City of Everett Human Needs Grant
January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2019
Exhibit A
Program Summary
Organization&Program: Volunteers of America: Maud's House Emergency Shelter& Development
VOAWW provides shelter, intensive case management and wraparound support services to Everett homeless
mothers and their children. The Maud's House Program Manager places clients in our emergency shelter. As their
Case Manager, she helps them develop housing stability plans and become self-sufficient. She also serves as the
focal point for the Maud's House Collaborative, which is designed to help the women plan for their family's future
and develop a family value around child and adult education and employment readiness. The program also utilizes
motel vouchers to house families temporarily, when necessary in support of program objectivies.
-Our overarching objective is to help families get into permanent housing,in which they can be stable. This might
involve Rapid Rehousing, voucher based programs, and other housing resources that have supports designed to
support housing stability and self-sufficiency. We also see great potential for a program that addressees the root
causes of parents'challenges(lack of education, poor employment readiness, and inability to plan for the future),
with the objective of empowering them to succeed in permanent housing without extensive wraparound services.
-We also have the objective that all young children will be enrolled in Early Head Start or Early Childhood
Education and Assistance Program(ECEAP). We also want to see mothers have their school-age children attend
school.
-Our third objective is that mothers will understand how childhood trauma impacts their lives daily, including their
ability to plan for the future. Included in this awareness is the goal that each mother understand the impact of
current trauma on their children's lives(today and in the future),as well as how to lessen the impacts of trauma.
2019 Human Needs Contracts 7
