• 1 <br /> ORDINANCE NO. / <br /> AN ORDINANCE establishing an emergency employment <br /> program in the City of Everett pursuant to the <br /> Emergency Employment Act of 1971, and establishing <br /> classifications for employees of the City of Everett <br /> under the Emergency Employment Act of 1971, and <br /> declaring an emergency to exist and this ordinance <br /> shall take effect upon being valid and published; and <br /> repealing Sections 1 and 2 of Ordinance No. 167-71. <br /> WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States has passed the Emergency <br /> Employment Act of 1971 to provide unemployed and underemployed persons with <br /> transitional employment in jobs providing needed public services during times <br /> of high unemployment, and, wherever feasible, related training and manpower <br /> services to enable such persons to move into employment or training, and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Everett has by motion on <br /> August 18, 1971, authorized the Mayor to enter into contracts to establish <br /> the program in the City of Everett, and <br /> WHEREAS, additional legislation action is required to facilitate the <br /> program and establish the terms under which the program will be conducted in <br /> the City of Everett, <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVER.ETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: Pursuant to the Emergency Employment Act of 1971, hereinafter <br /> referred to as "PEP" (Public Employment Program), the Mayor is hereby <br /> authorized to hire the following employees as appointive officers and/or day <br /> laborers of the City of Everett in accordance with the terms of the Emergency <br /> Employment Act of 1971 and such agreements as the Mayor, pursuant to his <br /> prior authorization to contract for employees under the Emergency Employment <br /> Act of 1971, may enter: <br /> CLASSIFICATION TITLE RANGE NO.
