To provide for a method of orderly transition from the old <br /> salary scheduled to the new salary schedule, the following shall apply: <br /> I. Any employee whose base salary under a previous <br /> schedule is greater than the base salary provided in the schedule <br /> contained in this ordinance shall continue to receive the previous <br /> base pay; provided, however, that an employee working in a classi- <br /> fication designated to be in a salary range prefaced by range number <br /> D or E shall continue to receive the previous base pay in accordance <br /> with a previous salary schedule only if the Mayor has not set the <br /> salary within the limits of salary range D and E as provided in <br /> Section 2 (c) of this ordinance. <br /> 2-C. Range numbers prefaced by D and E are to be considered as <br /> minimum and maximum salary ranges within which the Mayor may set the <br /> salary to be paid an employee. Employees in pay range numbers prefaced <br /> by E are appointive officers. <br />
