Day laborers so rated and com-
pensated shall be designated rated day laborers. The Mayor, together with
each Department Head employing day laborers, shall establish the rate of
pay therefore within the minimum and maximum rate based on the qualifications ,
experience and background of each day laborer employee and the type and
nature of the duties that the day laborer shall perform.
Section 4 : There is hereby adopted as part of the salary ordinance a longevity
schedule for full time employees based on years of service as follows :
beginning with the first of the 6th year - Base pay plus $10. 00 per month;
beginning with the first of the 11th year - Base pay plus $20.00 per month;
beginning with the first of the 16th year - Base pay plus $30. 00 per month;
beginning with the first of the 21st year - Base pay plus $40.00 per month;
Longevity shall not affect part-time or appointed employees, or employees in the
pay range numbers prefaced E in Section 2 above.
Section 5: Since greater performance and efficiency can be secured from employees who
have adequate medical care furnished on a uniform basis, it is in the best interests
of the City of Everett to provide a dual-choice medical care plan as part of the
consideration of employment. Therefore, the City will provide, as a form of additional
compensation to all City employees, including the Mayor and the members of the City
Council, who request it, except members of the Police and Fire Department covered
by statutory medical plans and temporary employees, a portion of the cost of a prepaid
medical and insurance plan to be established and administered by the Mayor pursuant
to final settlement of collective bargaining agreements with recognized bargaining
units within the City and pursuant to a uniform policy to be established and administered
by the Mayor to cover non-bargaining unit employees.
