I <br /> 1 1 sample shall be labeled with the product number, batch number, and size of batch. <br /> 2 The Contractor shall submit the specified samples and readings to the Engineer at <br /> 3 least 14 calendar days prior to the scheduled application of the sealer. The Contractor <br /> I 4 shall not begin applying pigmented sealer until receiving the Engineer's written <br /> 5 approval of the pigmented sealer color samples. <br /> I <br /> 6 <br /> 7 9-08.3(2) Exposed Aggregate Concrete Coatings and Sealers <br /> 8 9-08.3(2)A Retardant Coating <br /> 9 Retardant coating shall exhibit the following properties: <br /> I10 <br /> 11 1. Retards the set of the surface mortar of the concrete without preventing <br /> 12 the concrete to reach the specified 28 day compressive strength. <br /> I13 <br /> 14 2. Leaves the aggregate with its original color and luster, and firmly <br /> 15 embedded in the concrete matrix. <br /> I16 <br /> 17 3. Allows the removal of the surface mortar in accordance with the methods <br /> 18 specified in Section 6-02.3(14)E without the use of acidic washing <br /> I19 compounds. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 4. Allows for uniform removal of the surface mortar. <br /> 22 <br /> I23 If the Contractor proposes use of a retardant coating that is not listed in the <br /> 24 current WSDOT QPL, the Contractor shall submit a Type 2 Working Drawing <br /> 25 consisting of a one quart product sample from a current lot along with supporting <br /> I26 product information, Safety Data Sheet, and a Manufacturer's Certificate of <br /> 27 Compliance stating that the product conforms to the above performance <br /> 28 requirements. <br /> I29 <br /> 30 9-08.3(2)B Clear Sealer <br /> 31 The sealer for concrete surfaces with exposed aggregate finish shall be a clear, <br /> I <br /> 32 non-gloss, penetrating sealer of either a silane, siloxane, or silicone based <br /> 33 formulation. <br /> 34 <br /> I35 9-08.3(3) Permeon Treatment <br /> 36 Permeon treatment shall be a product of known consistent performance in producing <br /> 37 the SAE AMS Standard 595 Color No. 30219 target color hue established by WSDOT, <br /> 38 either selected from the WSDOT Qualified Products List (QPL), or an equivalent <br /> I39 product accepted by the Engineer.
