1 6-07.3(9)E Environmental Condition Requirements Prior to Application of Paint <br /> 2 Paint shall be applied only during periods when: <br /> 3 <br /> 4 1. Air and steel temperatures are in accordance with the paint manufacturer's • <br /> 5 recommendations but in no case less than 35°F nor greater than 115°F. <br /> 6 <br /> 7 2. Steel surface temperature is a minimum of 5°F above the dew point. <br /> 8 <br /> 9 3. Steel surface is not wet. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 4. Relative humidity is within the manufacturer's recommended range. <br /> 12 <br /> 13 5. The anticipated ambient temperature will remain above 35°F or the <br /> 14 manufacturer's minimum temperature, whichever is greater, during the paint <br /> 15 drying and curing period. <br /> 16 <br /> 17 Application will not be allowed if conditions are not favorable for proper application and <br /> 18 performance of the paint. <br /> 19 <br /> 20 Paint shall not be applied when weather conditions are unfavorable to proper curing. If a <br /> 21 paint system manufacturer's recommendations allow for application of a paint under <br /> 22 environmental conditions other than those specified, the Contractor shall submit a Type 2 <br /> 23 Working Drawing consisting of a letter from the paint manufacturer specifying the <br /> 24 environmental conditions under which the paint can be applied. Application of paint under <br /> 25 environmental conditions other than those specified in this section will not be allowed <br /> 26 without the Engineer's concurrence. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 <br /> 29 6-07.3(9)F Shop Surface Cleaning and Preparation <br /> 30 The last sentence is revised to read: <br /> 31 <br /> 32 The entire steel surface to be painted, including surfaces specified in Section 6-07.3(9)G to <br /> 33 receive a mist coat of primer, shall be cleaned to a near white condition in accordance with <br /> 34 SSPC-SP 10, Near-white Metal Blast Cleaning, and shall be in this condition immediately <br /> 35 prior to paint application. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 6-07.3(9)G Application of Shop Primer Coat <br /> 38 The first paragraph is supplemented with the following: <br /> 39 <br /> 40 Repairs of the shop primer coat shall be prepared in accordance with the painting plan. <br /> 41 Shop primer coat repair paint shall be selected from the approved component based or <br /> 42 performance based paint system in accordance with Section 6-07.3(10)H. <br /> 43 <br /> 44 6-07.3(9)H Containment for Field Coating <br /> 45 This section is revised to read: <br /> 46 <br /> 47 The Contractor shall use a containment system in accordance with Section 6-07.3(10)A for <br /> 48 surface preparation and prime coating of all uncoated areas remaining, including bolts, <br /> 49 nuts, washers, and splice plates. <br /> 50 <br /> City of Everett Page AM-46 Amendments <br /> Everett Downtown Streetscape Improvement March 22, 2019 <br />
