I <br /> 1 8-01.3(1)C5 Water Management for In-Water Work Below Ordinary High Water Mark <br /> 2 (OHWM) <br /> 3 Work over surface waters of the state (defined in WAC 173-201A-010) or below the OHWM <br /> I4 (defined in RCW 90.58.030) must comply with water quality standards for surface waters of <br /> 5 the state of Washington. <br /> 6 <br /> 1 7 8-01.3(1)C6 Environmentally Acceptable Hydraulic Fluid <br /> 8 All equipment containing hydraulic fluid that extends from a bridge deck over surface <br /> 9 waters of the state or below the OHWM, shall be equipped with an environmentally <br /> I10 acceptable hydraulic fluid. The fluid shall meet specific requirements for biodegradability, <br /> 11 aquatic toxicity, and bioaccumulation in accordance with the United States Environmental <br /> 12 Protection Agency (EPA) publication EPA800-R-11-002. Acceptance shall be in <br /> 11 13 accordance with Section 1-06.3, Manufacturer's Certification of Compliance. <br /> II 14 <br /> 15 The designation of environmentally acceptable hydraulic fluid does not mean fluid spills are <br /> 16 acceptable. The Contractor shall respond to spills to land or water in accordance with the <br /> I17 Contract. <br /> 18 <br /> 19 8-01.3(1)C7 Turbidity Curtain <br /> I20 All Work for the turbidity curtain shall be in accordance with the manufacturer's <br /> 21 recommendations for the site conditions. Removal procedures shall be developed and used <br /> 22 to minimize silt release and disturbance of silt. The Contractor shall submit a Type 2 <br /> I23 Working Drawing, detailing product information, installation and removal procedures, <br /> 24 equipment and workforce needs, maintenance plans, and emergency repair/replacement <br /> 25 plans. <br /> 26 <br /> 27 Turbidity curtain materials, installation, and maintenance shall be sufficient to comply with <br /> 28 water quality standards. <br /> I29 <br /> 30 The Contractor shall notify the Engineer 10 days in advance of removing the turbidity <br /> 31 curtain. All components of the turbidity curtain shall be removed from the project. <br /> I32 <br /> 33 8-01.3(1)C1 Disposal of Dewatering Water <br /> 34 This section is revised to read: <br /> I35 <br /> 36 When uncontaminated groundwater is encountered in an excavation on a project it may be <br /> 37 infiltrated within vegetated areas of the right of way not designated as Sensitive Areas or <br /> 38 incorporated into an existing stormwater conveyance system at a rate that will not cause <br /> I39 erosion or flooding in any receiving surface water. <br /> 40 <br /> 41 Alternatively, the Contractor may pursue independent disposal and treatment alternatives <br /> I42 that do not use the stormwater conveyance system provided it is in compliance with the <br /> 43 applicable WACs and permits. <br /> 44 <br /> 1 45 8-01.3(1)C2 Process Wastewater <br /> 46 This section is revised to read: <br /> 47 <br /> a48 Wastewater generated on-site as a byproduct of a construction process shall not be <br /> 49 discharged to surface waters of the State. Some sources of process wastewater may be <br /> 50 infiltrated in accordance with the CSWGP with concurrence from the Engineer.
