� v ORDINANCE NO. /67- 7/ AN ORDINANCE establishing an emergency employment program in the City of Everett pursuant to the Emergency Employment Act of 1971, and establishing classifications for employees of the City of Everett under the Emergency Employment Act of 1971 and appropriating $150,611.00 in addition to the 1971 Budget for the City of Everett for the accomplishment of the Emergency Employment Program of the City of Everett; and declaring an emergency to exist and this ordinance shall take effect upon being valid and published. WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States has passed the Emergency Employment Act of 1971 to provide unemployed and underemployed persons with transitional employment in jobs providing needed public services during times of high unemployment, and, wherever, feasible, related training and manpower services to enable such persons to move into employment or training, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Everett has by motion on August 18, 1971, authorized the Mayor to enter into contracts to establish the program in the City of Everett, and WHEREAS, additional legislation action is required to facilitate the program and establish the terms under which the program will be conducted in the City of Everett, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1: Pursuant to the Emergency Employment Act of 1971,hereinafter referred to as "PEP" (Public Employment Program) , the Mayor is hereby authorized to hire the following employees as appointive officers and/or day laborers of the City of Everett in accordance with the terms of the Emergency Employment Act of 1971 and such agreements as the Mayor, pursuant to his prior authorization to contract for employees under the Emergency Employment Act of 1971, may enter: CLASSIFICATION TITLE RANGE NO.
