/ea- 7/ <br /> ORDINANCE NO. /17,4-7/ <br /> AN ORDINANCE establishing compensation for overtime <br /> work and repealing Ordinance No. 58-69 (E. C. C. <br /> Chapter 1. 28). <br /> THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: The work week for all city employees covered by civil service, <br /> except communications department employees, firemen working on a ten to <br /> fourteen hour shift basis, policemen and policewomen, and water station <br /> operators, shall normally be forty hours per week, eight hours per day. All <br /> city employees covered by civil service, except communications department <br /> employees, firemen working on a ten to fourteen hour shift basis, policemen <br /> and policewomen, and water station operators, who shall be directed to work by <br /> the head of their department or duly authorized supervisor more than eight <br /> hours in any one day, or more than forty hours in any calendar week, and in <br /> addition any person who shall work any day that is designated as a holiday by <br /> this ordinance, except Sundays, shall be paid for such overtime work, or work <br /> on such holiday, at an overtime rate based upon one and one-half times the <br /> employee's regular hourly rate, which shall be determined by dividing the annual <br /> rate by 2, 080 hours, which payment shall be in addition to the employee's regular <br /> monthly payment, and, when called back to work for an emergency after the <br /> completion of a regular eight (8) hour shift shall receive a minimum of three (3) <br /> hours overtime pay. <br /> Water station operators in the Water Department who shall be directed to <br /> work by the head of their department or duly authorized supervisor more than <br /> eight hours in any one day or more than forty-eight hours in any calendar week, <br /> or who shall work on any day that is designated as a holiday by this ordinance, <br /> except Sunday, shall be paid for such overtime work, or work on such holiday, <br /> at an overtime rate based upon one and one-half times the employee's regular <br /> hourly rate, which shall be determined by dividing the annual rate by 2, 080 hours, <br /> which payment shall be in addition to the employee's regular monthly payment. <br /> Any fireman who is required to work as provided by the ordinances of the <br /> City of Everett on a ten hour-fourteen hour shift, forty-two hours a week basis <br /> and who shall be required, at the direction of the head of his department or duly <br /> authorized supervisor, to work additional hours in addition to his shift when <br /> any emergency is declared to exist by the head of his department or duly authorized <br /> supervisor, or in the event of need for overtime due to vacations, sickness or <br /> other unforeseen conditions, shall be paid at an hourly rate based on one and <br /> one-half times his regular hourly rate, which shall be determined by dividing <br />
