the annual rate by 2, 080 hours, which payment shall be in addition to his regular <br /> monthly payment. <br /> Any policeman or policewoman who shall be required to attend a court <br /> or hearing to testify as a witness for the City or the State of Washington <br /> at any time other than during his or her shift of work shall be allowed payment <br /> of overtime pay based at the rate of one and one-half times his or her regular <br /> hourly rate, which shall be determined by dividing the annual rate by 2, 080 hours, <br /> and shall receive a minimum of two hours pay at such overtime rate for each <br /> such attendance. Any policeman or policewoman who shall be required to work <br /> when an emergency has been declared to exist by the chief of the police department <br /> or duly authorized supervisor, at any time other than his or her regular shift, <br /> shall be paid for such overtime work at the rate of one and one-half times his or her <br /> regular hourly rate, which shall be determined by dividing the annual rate by <br /> 2, 080 hours. <br /> All day laborers who shall be directed by the head of their department or <br /> duly authorized supervisor to work more than eight hours in any one day, or <br /> more than forty hours in any calendar week or on any day that is designated as <br /> a holiday by this ordinance, except Sundays, shall be paid for such overtime work, <br /> or work on such holidays, at an hourly rate equal to one and one-half times the <br /> daily wage divided by eight. <br /> All employees of the communications department who shall be directed by <br /> the head of their department or duly authorized supervisor to work more than <br /> eight hours in any one day or on any day that is designated as a holiday by this <br /> ordinance, except Sundays, shall be paid for such overtime work, or work on such <br /> holidays, at an hourly rate based upon one and one-half times the employee's <br /> regular hourly rate, which shall be determined by dividing the annual rate by <br /> 2, 080 hours. <br /> All overtime of fire fighters except for emergency work, will be maintained <br /> from the seniority list kept by the head of the department. This record shall show <br /> the date of call and response for each person called as to whether it was refused, <br /> on duty, no answer, sickness, or vacation. If a man refuses, he will automatically <br /> be passed by until a complete cycle of the seniority list has been made. In the <br /> event an officer is needed to fill ashift because there is no qualified fire fighter <br /> on said shift, the Chief of the department shall authorize an officer of the same <br /> rank or a qualified fire fighter to be worked on overtime. This shall be authorized <br /> from the seniority list. The word "qualified" is defined to mean either: <br /> (a) An officer of the same rank; or <br /> (b) A man who has passed the examination for that rank but not yet <br /> been appointed; or <br /> (c) A man who is eligible to take the examination for that rank. <br /> All fire fighters called back to work for an emergency situation shall be <br /> paid at least 2 hours minimum at the overtime rate of pay. In addition all <br /> time actually worked in this situation shall be paid for at the overtime rate. <br /> The work "emergency" shall be defined to mean all situations where advance <br /> Page 2 <br />
