Perhaps the code was different when those other trailers went in. I know of no agreement with the
city to revise the Building code requirements.
From: Berlien, Robert B
Sent: Tuesday, May 07, 2013 9:50 AM
To: Bailey, Brian A
Cc: Conrad, Jared S
Subject: Tailer at the 45-01
Good morning. I have been asked how close to the south side of the 45-01 a trailer can be placed. This is one of the
office trailers presently now east of the Delivery Center. I took a look at the IBC Section 504.1 Exception: "The building
height of a one-story aircraft hangars, aircraft paint hangars and ----shall not be limited if the building is provided with
an automatic fire-extinguishing system and completely surrounded by public ways or yards not less in width than
one and one-half times the building height". The area of paint hangar is unlimited by 503.1.1. The way I read this is
that if the trailer is located 11/2 times away from the hangar based on the hangar height we are OK. The 45-01 has a
height at the paint areas of 80'from grid 1 to the north, and at the non-painting area a height of 25'from grid 1 to grid
.4. A little math magic and from the setback from the paint portion of the hangar is 120', and from the lower it is 38'.
The south wall of the lower(non-paint) area is 50'to the south of the paint area so the required set back is the greater
of 120 less the 50' of the lower area or 70'. It seems to me that there are other trailers closer than the 120'would
indicate. Is there some agreement with the city or? looking for a little clarity, thanks
Robert B.
