To provide for a ,tie t;r;ou of or_ac:x l y transition from the old salary <br /> schedule to the new salary schedule , the following shall apply: <br /> I . Any employee whose base salary under a pre- <br /> vious salary schedule is greater than the base salary provided in <br /> the schedule contained in this ordinance shall continue to receive <br /> the previous base pay. <br /> II . Any employee whose base salary falls within <br /> the appropriate salary range for his classification shall be paid <br /> at the next higher step in the range. The employee shall remain <br /> at this level until his next anniversary date , at which time he <br /> shall advance to the next higher step. <br /> III . Any employee whose base salary is less than <br /> the appropriate salary range for his classification shall receive <br /> not les's than the minimum rate for his classification. The <br /> employee shall be paid the rate within the salary schedule <br /> according to• tenure in the particular classification. <br /> C. Range numbers prefaced by D and E are to be considered as minimum <br /> and maximum salary ranges within which the Mayor may set the salary to be <br /> paid an employee . <br /> Section3 : E.C.C. 1.16 . 360 (Ordinance 20-69 , Section 1) is hereby amended to <br /> read as follows: <br /> Day Laborers employed by the City in any City Department may be rated by <br /> their qualifications , experience and background, and type & nature of duties <br /> to be performed and compensated at a minimum of no less than One Dollar and <br /> Sixty-five Cents per hour and a maximum of no more than Three Dollars and <br /> Twenty-five Cents per hour. Day Laborers so rated and compensated shall be <br /> designated rated day laborers. The Mayor, together with each Department <br /> Head employing day laborers , shall establish the rate of pay therefor <br /> within the minimum and maximum rate based on the qualifications , experience <br /> and background of each day laborer employee and the type and nature of the <br /> duties that the day laborer shall perform. <br /> Section 4 : There is hereby adopted as part of the salary ordinance a <br /> longevity schedule for full time employees based on years of service as <br /> follows: <br /> beginning with the first of the 6th year - Base pay plus $10 .00 per month; <br /> beginning with the first of the 11th year - Base pay plus $20 .00 per month; <br /> beginning with the first of the 16th year - Base pay plus $30 .00 per month; <br /> beginning with the first of the 21st year - Base pay plus $40 .00 per month; <br /> Longevity shall not affect part-time or appointed employees , or employees <br /> in the pay range numbers prefaced E in Section 2 above. <br />
